If the life and message of Jesus Christ is having an impact on our lives, we reach out to others. We become bridge for people to find life with their Creator. We become a welcoming community.

When we connect with a Church, we do so because we found something, some people, some message or idea helpful. We feel people want to be our friends. We find the music inspiring. We realize the teaching has some helpful insight for our lives. I hope this is true for you at Koinos. But there can be a downside. Church can simply become the place where we "get" something. Church is becomes the spiritual department store, displaying some interesting goods, at an affordable price. This slow creep erodes our souls. We morph into the religious people we don't want to be.

For Koinos to be beneficial for you, it can't be about you! If you are a follower of Jesus, the best thing for you is to give your life away for others. Only then do you find what you are looking for. If this whole God business is new to you, we hope you come to believe the message that life is found in dying to yourself, and living to love God and to love people. I do my best to try to teach on Sundays in a way that is helpful. The Children's ministry works hard at providing a safe spiritual atmosphere for your children to grow and for you to have a chance to connect with God. The Worship Team attempts to provide a musical aura for you to explore the Divine. But our prayer is that these efforts will lead you to reach out beyond yourself.

Here are a couple of avenues where you can easily reach out:

1. Easter is right around the corner. There are many people who would not consider visiting a Church 50 Sundays out of the year. But Easter and Christmas are still highlights on their calendars. Who do you know that could benefit from making friends with God and others at Koinos? Who in your life should you consider inviting Easter Sunday? We are not doing anything highly unusual that morning. We want people to get a taste of who we really are. There will not be any choirs or any pastors wearing ties. The usual "us." Bring somebody with you. 70% of people who are at Koinos, are here because a friend invited them.

2. March 30th, the Community Groups will be having their "Spreads." Our Community Groups are the small gatherings where people can go deeper with God and build real friendships. This includes looking outwardly. At the "Spread" Community Groups meet together for an informal meal, inviting others who are not part of the group. There is nothing overtly spiritual at the Spread. If you are a part of Koinos, but not a part of Community Group, join in for the Spread. If you are already in a group, this is a time to invite neighbors or friends or others to join you for the evening.

Koinos's mission is measured by the degree that we seek to include and invite and welcome others into our relationships and to meet the One who is Life. We celebrate a risen Christ not only by our official beliefs, but by lifestyles of reaching out. If we are not connecting with others, we live as if He is still in an ancient tomb.

Love you all! Have a great weekend!

Words Worth Pondering

I'm not at all religious, but I am a very spiritual person.
