"Koinos" is a Greek word (the Bible was originally written in Greek) which means “shared, together, open to all.” This word was used in the New Testament to describe the first followers of Jesus Christ. As religion was typically dividing and excluding people, the followers of Jesus readily welcomed anyone who wanted to seek and know God with them. Koinos was also used outside of the Bible (but in that same culture) to describe normal, every day life.
